A factory reset returns your MobileMule DVR to its original out-of-box settings. This is useful if your DVR is behaving unexpectedly after a configuration change, or if you are reinstalling the unit in a new vehicle.
Before You Reset
Warning: A factory reset will erase all of your DVR settings, including WiFi and cellular configuration, channel settings, recording schedules, and your login password. You will need to set everything up again from scratch after the reset.
Make sure you have:
- Your DVR login credentials (default username: ADMIN/password: 888888)
- Your WiFi or cellular APN settings are ready to re-enter after the reset
- Your carrier information if you use 4G cellular
Steps
- Log in to your DVR (username: ADMIN/password: 888888)
- From the main menu, go to Tools
- Select Default Config
- Confirm the reset when prompted
- Your DVR will reboot automatically — this may take up to 2 minutes
After the Reset — Reconfigure Your DVR
Once the DVR has rebooted, you will need to set it up again. Here is a checklist of the most common settings to reconfigure:
- Time zone: Date and Time Menu > adjust the GMT offset to your location
- 4G cellular: Peripherals > Cellular > enter your carrier APN
- WiFi: Peripherals > Wi-Fi Setup > connect to your network
- Camera channels: Camera Settings > enable your active channels
- Recording schedule: Record Settings > set to Continuous or your preferred schedule
- SD card or hard drive: Tools > Format > format your storage device
Common Issues
Cannot access the Tools menu: The Tools menu requires you to be logged in. If you have forgotten your password and cannot log in, contact our support team — a firmware-level reset may be required.
DVR does not reboot after the reset: Allow up to 2 minutes for the reboot to complete. If the DVR does not come back on after 2 minutes, manually power cycle it by disconnecting and reconnecting the power.
Settings are back, but DVR still has issues: If problems persist after a factory reset, there may be a hardware issue. Contact our support team for further diagnosis.
