How to Set Up GPS Tracking on Your MobileMule DVR

Every MobileMule DVR includes a built-in GPS receiver. GPS serves two purposes: recording location data alongside your footage on the SD card or hard drive, and enabling live GPS tracking and remote video viewing through the MobileMule Live portal.

GPS Location Recording (No Setup Required)

GPS location is automatically logged alongside your recorded footage with no extra setup needed. You can review GPS data together with footage in the playback menu or in the MobileMule Live portal.

Live GPS Tracking Through the Portal

To track your vehicles in real time through the MobileMule Live portal, your DVR needs:

  • A SIM card with an active cellular data plan installed
  • A MobileMule Live portal account
  • 4G cellular set up correctly on the DVR

If you haven't set up 4G cellular yet, start here: How to Set Up 4G Cellular on Your MobileMule DVR

Accessing the MobileMule Live Portal

Log in to the portal at:

dvr.mobilemulelive.com

From the portal, you can:

  • See your vehicle's real-time location on a map
  • Review trip history and route playback
  • Watch live video from your DVR's cameras remotely
  • Set up alerts for speeding, geofence entry/exit, and more (on supported models)

Note: Live video streaming uses significantly more data than GPS tracking alone. If you have a limited data plan, use live video sparingly to avoid hitting your data cap. Visit rvs.teltik.com to view data plan options.

Confirming GPS is Working

Press the blue Info button on your DVR remote to open the System Info screen and check the following:

Field What You Want to See
GPS-M Should NOT show INVALID
4G-State Successful
Center-L SUCCESSFUL

If GPS-M shows INVALID, your DVR does not have a GPS lock yet. This is normal for the first few minutes after powering on, or if the vehicle is parked indoors. Move the vehicle outside to an open area and allow up to 5 minutes for the GPS to lock.

Common GPS Issues

The GPS location is not updating in the portal

  • Allow up to 5 minutes after powering on for the GPS to get a lock — this is normal
  • Make sure your DVR has an active cellular connection (check 4G-State on the System Info screen)
  • If the vehicle is parked inside a building or garage, move it outside

GPS shows the vehicle in the wrong location

  • This can happen briefly after powering on while the GPS acquires a fresh satellite lock
  • If it persists, check that the GPS antenna is connected to the DVR and has a clear view of the sky — metal roofs or heavy loads above the antenna can block the signal

My vehicle is not showing up in the portal at all

  • Confirm your DVR's IMEI number matches what is registered in your portal account
    • To find your IMEI: press the blue Info button on the remote and look for the IMEI field on the System Info screen
  • Confirm your SIM card is active and your data plan is current
  • Contact our support team if your portal account needs to be set up or updated

Live video won't load in the portal

  • Your DVR needs a strong cellular signal for video streaming
  • Check 4G-Sign on the System Info screen — move the vehicle to a better signal area if the value is low
  • Confirm your data plan supports video streaming

GPS was working, but suddenly stopped

  • Check whether your data plan has expired or reached its limit
  • Check that the SIM card hasn't been dislodged — vehicle vibration can loosen it over time
  • If a firmware update was recently applied, your network settings may have been reset — re-enter your cellular settings
