Ordering the wrong replacement part is one of the most common issues FedEx P&D contractors run into. FedEx delivery vehicles use specific camera configurations depending on the vehicle type, and parts must match both the signal type and the vehicle's existing wiring.
Important: Standard RVS backup cameras sold on rearviewsafety.com may not be compatible with FedEx P&D vehicle wiring. Always confirm compatibility before ordering. When in doubt, contact our support team first.
Step 1 — Identify your vehicle type
Different FedEx P&D vehicles use different camera setups. Start by identifying what you're working with.
| Vehicle Type | Typical Camera Setup |
|---|---|
| Sprinter van | Rear camera, driver side, and passenger side cameras |
| Step van | Rear camera, side, or arm cameras |
| Box truck | Rear camera, side cameras, sometimes front |
| Cargo van | Rear camera |
Not sure which cameras your specific vehicle needs? Contact our support team with your vehicle type and year, and we'll match the right parts for you before you order.
Step 2 — Identify your system type
Before ordering any part, confirm whether your system is AHD or CVBS. Mixing signal types is the most common cause of No Signal errors after a replacement — even when the connector physically fits.
AHD systems:
- "AHD" appears in the part number (example: PD-775R-AHD)
- Part number ends in "-AHD" or "-1"
CVBS systems:
- No AHD or FHD in the part number
- Standard resolution system
Not sure which type you have?
Go to: How to Identify Your FedEx Camera System (AHD vs CVBS vs FHD)
Matching connectors does NOT mean compatibility. AHD and CVBS systems use the same 4-pin connector but are NOT interchangeable.
Step 3 — Use the connection diagrams
Before ordering, verify your current wiring setup using the FedEx P&D Connection Diagrams. This will help you confirm which parts connect where and identify any mismatched components.
View FedEx / P&D Connection Diagrams (PDF)
Use the diagrams to:
- Confirm how your system is currently connected
- Identify the correct cable types and lengths for your vehicle
- Verify compatibility before ordering a replacement
Step 4 — Find the right replacement part
Replacing a rear camera:
- Must match your monitor's signal type (AHD or CVBS)
- Confirm the mounting style — surface mount, license plate, or flush mount
- Confirm the connector type matches your existing cable
- Refer to the connection diagrams to confirm the correct cable length for your vehicle
Replacing a side or arm camera:
- Must match your system's signal type
- Side and arm cameras for FedEx vehicles have specific mounting requirements that vary by vehicle type
- Go to: Which Side Camera Do I Need for My FedEx Vehicle?
Replacing a monitor:
- Must match your camera signal type (AHD or CVBS)
- Confirm the monitor mounting location and screen size fits your vehicle cab
- If upgrading to an FHD monitor, note that FHD monitors support AHD and CVBS cameras as well
Replacing a cable:
- Confirm the cable length needed for your specific vehicle using the connection diagrams
- Confirm the correct connector type for each end
- For long cable runs, use a cable rated for the full distance to avoid signal loss
Step 5 — Order through the FedEx P&D portal
FedEx contractors should order replacement parts through the dedicated RVS portal for P&D contractors. This portal is set up specifically for FedEx contractor purchasing and includes the correct parts for your vehicle type.
Common ordering mistakes to avoid
| Mistake | What to do instead |
|---|---|
| Ordering a standard RVS camera without checking compatibility | Confirm AHD vs CVBS match first |
| Assuming connectors mean compatibility | Always verify signal type |
| Ordering the wrong cable length | Check the connection diagrams for your vehicle |
| Ordering a side camera without confirming the mount style | Go to: Which Side Camera Do I Need for My FedEx Vehicle? |
Still not sure which part to order?
