Use this guide to resolve the most common issues with the RD-24E1S All-In-One Radar + Camera System.
The system has no power and won't turn on
- Check the inline fuse in the power harness — replace it if blown
- Confirm the power wire is connected to a 12V source and the connection is secure
- Confirm the ground wire is connected to bare metal on the vehicle chassis — not a painted surface
- If wired to the ignition (ACC), confirm the vehicle key is in the ON or ACC position
The camera image is not showing on the monitor
- Check the cable connection between the RD-24E1S unit and the monitor — unplug and firmly reconnect both ends
- Confirm the monitor is powered on and set to the correct input channel
- Try a different cable between the unit and monitor to rule out a faulty cable
- Confirm the unit itself is powered on — the camera and radar may have separate power indicators
The radar is not detecting objects
- Confirm the unit is fully powered on
- Check the mounting angle — the radar detection zone must point toward the ground plane behind the vehicle; a unit tilted too far up will miss objects at ground level
- Test with a person standing directly behind the vehicle at close range (within 2 meters) to confirm basic radar function
- Check that nothing is blocking the face of the radar sensor — metal objects directly in front of the sensor will block detection
- Confirm the detection zone mode is set appropriately for your application
Refer to: How to Adjust Radar Sensitivity and Alerts on the RD-24E1S
False alerts are triggering constantly
- Reduce the radar sensitivity in the settings menu
- Switch to a smaller detection zone mode (Mode 3: 2.0m x 3.0m) to narrow the detection area
- Check whether the unit is mounted near a vibrating surface — mechanical vibration can cause false triggers; re-mount on a more stable surface if needed
- In busy work sites or areas with heavy foot traffic nearby, a smaller detection zone mode will reduce false alerts significantly
The alert sound is not working
- Check the monitor volume — confirm it is not muted or set to zero
- In the settings menu, confirm the alert type is set to include audible alerts (not visual only)
- Test the alert by having a person walk behind the vehicle to trigger a detection event
The camera image is blurry or has poor quality
- Inspect the camera lens for dirt, water, or physical damage — clean gently with a soft cloth
- Check for condensation inside the lens — this can occur in high-humidity environments
- Confirm the cable connection is secure at both ends — a loose connection can cause image degradation
Common Issues at a Glance
| Issue | Quick Fix |
|---|---|
| No power | Check the fuse, power wire connection, and ground wire |
| No camera image | Check cable connections, monitor input, try a different cable |
| Radar not detecting | Check mounting angle, clear obstructions, test at close range |
| Constant false alerts | Reduce sensitivity, switch to smaller detection zone mode |
| No alert sound | Check monitor volume, confirm audible alerts are enabled |
| Blurry image | Clean camera lens, check cable connection |
